Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. It is the West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently cited, however her short time in the city was not. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. At the beginning of her life she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Through the years since Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on small and big screens, attracting the greatest media attention after she was offered the role in the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian actress in the season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
